Viñuela case: Grupo Bethia stands out and assures that “the only person responsible” was the animator

At the end of last October, National Television Council fined Mega for almost 20 million pesos after the haircut made by Jose Miguel Viñuela to a cameraman, but the Bethia Group, owner of the channel, asked to revoke the sanction and assured that the responsibility falls on the animator.

The CNTV fine was imposed on Mega “for violating the proper functioning of television services” by Viñuela, who carried out a “degrading and humiliating treatment given to a cameraman from said program”.

However, the Bethia Group appealed to the Court of Appeals to try to reverse the financial penalty, arguing in his legal action that the company was not guilty of what the driver did.

“It has been conclusively proven that Megamedia (a holding that groups together its various media) did not bear any responsibility for the events (…) the only person responsible was Mr. Viñuela”stated the Bethia Group.
