Epidemiological report: 41 communes exceed 100 active cases and 12 of them are in the Metropolitan Region

A total of 41 communes of the country exceed 100 active cases of coronavirus. This according to the figures of the 78th Epidemiological Report of the Ministry of Health, published this afternoon, and which reported that Puerto Montt, Punta Arenas and Concepción continue to lead in this indicator.

In relation to the previous document -of December 16-, the capital of the Los Lagos Region once again positioned itself in the first place and currently has 455 active cases; that is, 32 positives more than in the last report.

Concepción also saw a rise in this number -from 400 to 418-, while Punta Arenas decreased very slightly from 423 to 420 active cases.

In the Metropolitan Region -which fell back to Transition last Thursday-, There are twelve municipalities that count figures higher than one hundred in this index: Puente Alto, Maipú, La Florida, Pudahuel, Las Condes, San Bernardo, Ñuñoa, Peñalolén, Lo Barnechea, Renca, El Bosque, Central Station.

In parallel, the Ministry of Health published the weekly report of deaths from Covid-19 of the Department of Health Statistics and Information (Deiss).

In its twenty-seventh version, the document reported a total of 21,421 suspected and confirmed deaths. The Metropolitan Region concentrates the highest figure – adding both indicators – with a total of 13,662 deaths.

As detailed in the text, at the national level currently 16,101 deaths have been confirmed, a figure that the Minsal reported today in the health balance. While 5,320 have not yet been confirmed as caused by the virus.
