More than 3 million 877 thousand people who requested to withdraw up to 10% of their pension savings already received payment, seven days after starting the process that enables this option for the second time.
According to the balance of the AFP Association, this represents 61% of all requests received and means transfers by more than 6 billion dollars.
The Superintendency of Pensions, meanwhile, delivered a preliminary statistical analysis of the operation. According to data from the regulator, until December 11 more than 673 thousand people withdrew their entire balance, adding to the little more than 2 million of the first 10%.
The general manager of the AFP Association, Fernando Larraín, took advantage of the balance to criticize the debate on a third rescue of funds.
Since yesterday, Banco Estado ordered a series of special measures for transfers. Until January 15, the branches will attend until 4:00 p.m., while the Banco Estado Express subsidiaries will do so until 6:00 p.m.
On the other hand, the maximum transfer capacity in ATMs was increased to 400 thousand pesos, and 200 thousand pesos in the Vecina boxes. In this case, however, it will depend on the person in charge of each premises.
Despite these provisions, the call is to prefer remote channels. According to the Superintendency of Pensions, only 101 people have opted for the cash payment, and 80% of all applications opted for Banco Estado.
The president of the banking institution, Sebastián Sichel, assured that the operations are functioning normally.
The undersecretary of Social Welfare, Pedro Pizarro, pointed out that beyond the taxes added in this second withdrawal, the lower number of applications is explained by greater confidence in the process.
According to statistics, of the approximately 10 million 200 thousand people who participated in the first withdrawal of funds, more than half have not done so in this second 10%.
