The Government proposed a nominal adjustment of 0.8% for salaries above 1 million 500 thousand pesos, and 2.7% for incomes below that cut-off line.
The other benefits are also readjusted by 2.7%, with the exception of the Vacation Bonus, which is reduced by half; and the Conflict Term Bonus, which is eliminated.
The commissions reviewed its content and in the various speeches made in the debate, particularly from the opposition, they were emphatic in stating that they would not support the Executive’s proposal, which they described as petty. They insisted that the costs of the crisis derived from the coronavirus pandemic “They cannot be paid by the workers.”
Along the same lines, they argued that the readjustment proposal is insufficient because it does not protect or protect the purchasing power of workers and the global approach presented in the Government’s proposal was criticized.
Meanwhile, the ruling party questioned the rejection of the figure, stating that the effort of the Executive is not recognized in the midst of an exceptional scenario such as that posed by the pandemic, not only in Chile but also in the world.
