JC Rodríguez recalled an old confrontation with Gómez Pablos that divided TVN: He asked that they throw me out
In 2005 Rafael Araneda and Amaro Gómez-Pablos starred in a controversy, which completely divided the entertainment and press area of TVN.
The conflict occurred after the comedian Juan Pablo Flores will perform a controversial imitation of the former news anchor on the program Game night, which was animated by Araneda.
As it transpired in the press of the time, Gómez-Pablos felt passed away and he believed that the imitation had affected his integrity, image and credibility. And while Rafael and the entire show team were very apologetic, Amaro continued to be upset.
This controversy was refloated this Thursday in With you in the morning by Julio Cesar Rodriguez, who was the newspaper editor of Game night at that time.
The driver declassified several details of the conflict, for example, that originally the participation of Flores was not so extensive. When his script finished, the rating was still very high, so they asked him to lengthen and improvise.
“My mistake, I left the door open for the man (to do what he wanted)”commented the radio host of Radio Bío Bío, noting that it was during the filler that the comedian launched a very misplaced joke for which they ended up taking him out.
The next day, the animator said, Gómez-Pablos filed a formal claim on TVN and “He grabbed her with Rafa and Rafa got angry with Amaro”, generating the division between the press and entertainment area.
But perhaps the most striking thing that Julio César said is that, when the problem arose, he went to face the former news anchor. The reason? According to Rodríguez, Amaro asked to be fired.
“Since I was a chorus, I went to look for Amaro, I wanted to hit him (…) Because he asked to kick me out. This is not done. Who asks a colleague to be thrown out? “he said, and then launched a joke that drew laughter. “Amaro did not understand with us, because he was from the press because … he did not speak Spanish at that time”.
Julio César assured that the decision to show an imitation of the journalist was never made with bad intentions, but he also made his mea culpa.
“This happened live, it was a spontaneous joke of the rooster and we got it out there. We did everything we had to do. We are enthusiastic about the tune yes, I admit it “he added.
In order to fix things, a top head of the entertainment area went to apologize to those who were offended and a meeting was organized to fix the problem. However, Rodríguez revealed the instance did not help with the solution.
“In the meeting the shit was left, it did not help at all. The press were too ‘choros’, after three minutes they were offering combos and everything “he added.
Finally, Julio César pointed out that he made a mistake as a journalistic editor and that if it were not for some bosses who were fond of him, he would have been immediately fired for the controversy.
