Xi Jinping invited Sebastián Piñera to visit China

The Presidents of Chile and China reiterated their commitment to a free and open multilateral trading system, agreed on the need to advance in a reform of the World Trade Organization and expressed mutual interest in Chile’s approach to the Regional Integral Economic Association (RCEP, for its acronym in English), which today represents a third of the world economy. For its part, China ratified its interest in joining TPP-11.

President Piñera appreciated China’s commitment to carbon neutrality and agreed to continue working constructively on the creation of a new Marine Protected Area in Antarctica, in the so-called Domain 1. The Chilean President also reiterated the commitment to work together in the development of clean energy and green hydrogen.

President Piñera appreciated China’s efforts in managing the Covid-19 pandemic and thanked that nation for its help to Chile to combat the pandemic. The leaders pledged to collaborate with special emphasis on research, development and distribution of vaccines.
