Term viewers will allow police to identify people with covid symptoms in a crowd

He Mayor of the Metropolitan Region, Felipe Guevara, delivered this Tuesday to the Carabineros a score of portable thermal visors, which are used to detect people with symptoms of covid-19.

The devices will be used by the uniformed police in the main points of agglomeration of people in the capital, such as Metro stations, bus terminals or the Central Vega.

With a cost of 94 million pesos, these 20 viewers will allow to support people in the control since the lens captures the temperature of up to a maximum of 10 people simultaneously in a range that goes from 2 to 6 meters away.

Mayor Felipe Guevara pointed out that “the idea is to be able to prevent. Many people tell us why there is no more inspection at the entrances and exits of the subway. Well, now we will also be able to inspect the airport, bus terminals. The idea is that if the Carabineros detects a person with a rise in temperature, which is the most important symptom of covid, they can stop him and check his sim card for that person’s data. Maybe that person should be quarantined because they have the virus, and if it is not registered on the sim card, they will recommend doing a PCR ”.

The authority added that “we are delivering this cutting-edge technology to the institution, and it is she who must determine in what places and at what time to use them. These have an autonomy of 8 hours, and the battery is recharged in just two hours, so it can be used throughout the police shift.
