Moreira’s phrase that outraged the CHV panel

In a new edition of With you in the morning, the political panel debated about the project that seeks a general pardon for people detained during the social outbreak.

To summarize what was stated by those present, Julio César Rodríguez agreed with the main problem regarding the accused.

“There were people who did steal and did burn buses, but unfortunately we have a complex problem (…) It is important that governments act, ask for speed or justice, not leave things as they are,” he said, referring to those who may be deprived of freedom without having committed a crime.

It was in this context that Senator Iván Moreira (UDI) intervened in the talk and pointed directly at the animator. «I feel that you are calling me to cry on your shoulder for these poor little ones. These poor people are coup plotters, they are violent, they are looters, “said the parliamentarian, unleashing Alejandra Sepúlveda (FRVS) and Marco Enríquez-Ominami, who participated in the program.

«Ivan, the only declared coup leader here is you. If you listened to me carefully, you wouldn’t tell me what you’re saying. I am telling you that in the group of people (detained) there are people who did steal, who did burn buses (…) what I am telling you is that there were people like that, but there are cases where nothing has been proven or has been they put false evidence, “Julio César clarified.

Moreira’s annoyance

“Here, they are easing the burden on the third power of the State. We do not have why we are protecting, they are responsible for helping; the Public Ministry and justice. For me, 99% (of the detainees) are coup plotters and thieves who took advantage of the circumstances, ”insisted Moreira, who opposed the option of incorporating more prosecutors to speed up the investigation processes.

“Do not put out the fire with benzine, if you are a senator (…) you have arrived and are judging,” lamented Julius Caesar.

With obvious annoyance, Deputy Sepúlveda insisted that “we are asking that the rule of law be applied and that there be more prosecutors.” In passing, he asked the senator for more height to debate these issues.

Moreira: Do not come to me to ask for height with criminals and coup plotters.

Monserrat Álvarez: It is not known if they are criminals yet.

Moreira: Well, that is a matter of justice, not government.
