At 1:01 p.m. on Monday, total darkness began in the regions of La Araucanía, Los Ríos and part of the Biobío, which are the places in the country where the total solar eclipse was seen in its maximum plenitude.
The zone of total darkness, known as the “umbra”, is a strip of approximately 110 kilometers which, on this occasion, included sectors of the region of the three mentioned regions:
