This Saturday, the authorities of the Ministry of Health reported that During the last 24 hours, 1,807 new cases of coronavirus were registered (1,281 symptomatic, 491 asymptomatic, and 35 unreported)
This is the highest figure after 56 days (or what is the same, a month and 23 days), given that on October 17, 1,811 daily cases on that day.
According to Minister Enrique Paris, today’s daily figure was obtained after 40,359 PCR tests. This, in the words of the minister, yields a lower percentage positivity that can be misleading, so it should be avoided that people “feel confident that we are containing progress and it is not.”
Thus, the total accumulated in Chile after 285 days is 569,781 infected.
Meanwhile, for the third consecutive day the country has more than 10 thousand active cases since this Saturday 10,530 people were reported in the contagion phase. Of these, 2,565 are in the Metropolitan Region, which has the most active patients, surpassing the Biobío with 2,237.
In return, the recovered cases amount to 543,083.
As for the deceased, on this day they communicated 64 new deaths, with which the total number of victims left by the pandemic is 15,846.
