Iranian journalist Ruhollah Zam has been hanged in his country this Saturday morning on charges of “corruption on the ground” after encouraging protests against the Government of 2017 and 2018, as announced by the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Tehran.

Zam was the founder of the digital medium ‘Amadnews’ that was used as a source of information by many of the Iranians who participated in the protests against the government of their country due to the bad economic situation of the country in 2017 and 2018.

Through a Telegram channel that had more than a million subscribers, the media became a forum for protesters and when the Iranian government managed to close it, claiming that violence was incited, Zam reopened it under another name under the one that was running until it was stopped.

Journalist exiled in France

Zam, who was living in exile in France, was arrested by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard last year in an operation whose details have never been disclosed, but in which, according to the Iranian security force, “modern intelligence services and innovative tactics” were used. .

According to the Iranian agency Irna, the journalist was convicted of thirteen charges, including crimes against the country’s internal and external security, espionage in favor of the intelligence service of one of the countries in the region and the French secret services. or cooperation with the US Government.
