Piñera hopes that Pfizer’s vaccination will begin in “the next days or weeks” in the population at risk

He President Sebastián Piñera announced that he hopes that Pfizer’s vaccination will begin soon in Chile, already authorized in the United Kingdom and on the verge of receiving approval from the FDA in the United States, a key step for its eventual approval in our country by the Institute of Public Health.

The President headed this Friday the Summit of the Pacific Alliance in La Moneda, whose central themes were Covid-19, vaccination and the economic crisis derived from the pandemic.

After this, he stressed to the press that “two good news in this matter: first, we have made great strides to ensure a safe and effective vaccine, which we hope to have available and start vaccinating starting with populations at risk over the next few days or weeks“.

“This will allow us to better control the coronavirus pandemic, and it will also allow us to recover the freedoms and capacities of all people to fulfill and carry out their dreams and projects,” he stressed.

He Ministry of Health said this week that intends to start administering the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine in the first quarter of 2021.

CHILE HANDED THE ALLIANCE PRESIDENCY

After holding the presidency pro tempore of the Alliance, Piñera handed over to his Colombian counterpart, Iván Duque -the only one who attended in person-, the leadership of the regional integration initiative, of which they are also part Mexico and Peru.
