During the day yesterday, a video began to circulate through social networks where it is seen how a group of people face the deputy and candidate to be secretary general of the UDI, María José Hoffmann, at the Puerto Montt Airport.
In these images, it is possible to see how the UDI militant is rebuked and insulted while sitting in an area of the air terminal.
This “funa” is added to the one suffered a day before by the current UDI president, Jacqueline van Rysselberghe, and the current candidate to replace her, the former Interior Minister, Víctor Pérez, also at an airport in Antofagasta.
What happened to these UDI figures was condemned across the board by a group of parliamentarians and political figures.
“I think diametrically different than María José Hoffmann, but her opinion must be fought with arguments, not with disqualification, aggression or fatalities. It is not the way. ‘About ideas, everything, against people, nothing,’ “said PPD Senator Felipe Harboe.
Deputy DC, Matías Walker also rejected the action: “All my solidarity with Deputy Hoffmann in the face of the cowardly funa she was subjected to in a public space. Differences in democracy are settled with arguments and are resolved with votes, ”he said.
The UDI deputy and candidate for the party’s presidency, Javier Macaya, also addressed these events: “I want to send my solidarity to Víctor Pérez, Jacqueline van Rysselberghe and Pepa Hoffmann, who with less than 24 hours of difference, in two different airports in Chile , they were subjected to insults that shows the intransigence and polarization that unfortunately has done us so badly during the last time, ”he said.
He added that “I believe that our society has to channel through democracy, respect, the differences that we have. But it is not the way to express them. The insult, the violence, the disqualification, quickly turns into physical violence. For this reason, I believe that it is important to strongly condemn these demonstrations, murders and violence ”.
The former UDI, deputy Alvaro Carter, also joined in the expressions of rejection of what the three militants of his former party suffered. “I have criticized any kind of funa whoever it is. And with all the more reason I want to condemn what María José Hoffmann, Víctor Pérez and Jacqueline van Rysselberghe had to experience, because differences cannot be expressed through insults and threats. My greatest solidarity with them ”, he said.
For his part, the leader of Republican Action, José Antonio Kast, declared that “those who work are cowards like the hooded ones. They hide behind a telephone, while laughing and insulting those who cannot defend themselves. Cowards, just like those who spread their confinements, because they don’t show their faces or debate with arguments ”.
