Last Wednesday Coquimbo Kingdom got a triumph in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the South American Cup.
The ‘pirate’ cast prevailed as a visitor, 2 to 1, no less than the Junior from Barranquilla, leader of the Colombian league.
The duel was marked, at times, by the strong leg and crosses to the limit. A situation that heated spirits on ‘coffee-growing’ soil and that almost led to a scandal in the end.
This is stated by the Colombian media El Heraldo, present at the stadium, which revealed that forward Miguel Borja went to look for the Colombian players at the end of the confrontation.
Moreover, the aforementioned newspaper emphasizes that Borja dropped the beginning of a television interview to face the “pirate” footballers, accusing mockery and insults of the Chilean cast.
“Big mouths! There in Chile we are going to see each other again and we are going to beat them! “shouted Borja, according to the media.
The response from the coquimbos was immediate: burlesque laughter and other provocations that further enraged Borja, with Rafael Arace being the main target.
However, the quick action of the referees and technical bodies prevented the issue from passing to greater.
The photographer Hansel Vásquez of El Heraldo was able to capture some postcards that account for the incident that, fortunately, was stopped in time.
