The Espacio Riesco Event Center denounces that the Ministry of Health owes him a figure that exceeds the $ 4 million for the rental and installation of the Huechuraba Hospital Center, which was enabled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic to transfer patients from other health centers in the north of Santiago.
As stated to T13 Sergio Gutierrez, General manager of the firm, the amount owed by the Secretary of State reaches “2,900 million pesos plus VAT”. The amount, he claimed, should have been paid “four months ago”. The Minsal, Gutiérrez assured, has not answered the phone for a month.
Last July, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic declared a second contract signed with Espacio Riesco illegal, due to an alleged duplication of services for which charges had been made. It was a contract that was signed by the North Metropolitan Health Service (SSMN) and the Centro de Convenciones Santiago SA, which was managed by the Undersecretariat of Healthcare Networks, at that time headed by Arturo Zúñiga.
The director of the SSMN, William Hartwig, acknowledged the existence of a debt, however, maintained that this is less than that claimed by the company. “We have a debt with Espacio Riesco of 2,092 million,” he told T13.
“In order to pay them, we have to send the documentation, in this case the contract to the Comptroller and, once the contract is taken into account, we proceed to pay.”
