The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, questioned President Sebastián Piñera in the midst of the controversy generated by his walk on the beach in Cachagua, where he took photos without a mask or social distancing.
In this context, the holder of the portfolio admitted that the President “evidently did not comply with the norm, but he justifies himself and I find him right”, Since -he explained- the regulations allow people to walk on the beach without a mask as long as they keep their distance.
Regarding the lack of social distance, he said that he understands the excuses that the President gave, because people suddenly approached him and he did not manage to put it on.
Meanwhile, regarding the option of filing a summary for the action, he assured that this alternative occurs when an inspector of the health authority records the situation in situ and, after being warned, that person does not wear a mask or refuses to use it.
“In this case there was no examiner, therefore, the procedure would not be carried out, unless the person denounced himself, but in this case there would be no procedure,” he stressed.
As for the option for Piñera to file a self-report to give a sign of equality before the law, he was in favor of that possibility.
“It is probably a good measure, but I would not dare to speak through the voice of the President. As a health authority, the important thing is to give signals that the entire population is under the same rules of the game. From that point of view, it would be a good sign for me ”, remarked.
