The communes of La Pintana, Cerro Navia, Pudahuel and Pedro Aguirre Cerda in the Metropolitan Region, woke up in quarantine this weekend, because they fell back from Preparation (Phase 3) to Transition (Phase 2) in the Step by Step Plan.

In addition, four other communes fell from Initial Opening (Phase 4) to Preparation due to the increase in coronavirus infections in the capital: Vitacura, Las Condes, Santiago and Curacaví.

What can and cannot be done in Transition Phase 2?

  • The movement of people is allowed from Monday to Friday, except during curfew hours.
  • The quarantine is maintained on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
  • Mandatory use of a mask.
  • Physical distancing.
  • Social and recreational gatherings are allowed with a maximum of 10 people in open spaces and 5 in closed spaces.
  • Customs and sanitary cords.
  • Prohibition of transfer to second home.

Regarding trade, small businesses and SMEs run by their own owners can open, Monday through Friday, respecting the protocols and the curfew.

They cannot open businesses that are run by people who live in a commune that is in quarantine, because they cannot move to a commune in transition.
