This Wednesday the Chamber of Deputies approved the creation of an investigative commission of government agencies before possible infractions to the applicable legislation, by the AFPs when carrying out their investment operations through other entities.

The initiative was approved with 97 votes in favor, 22 against and 24 abstentions, after the complaint made by Gino Lorenzini of Felices y Forrados (FyF) was known.

After this, the deputies Pablo Vidal (Ex RD), Alejandro Bernales (PL), Carmen Hertz (PC), Natalia Castillo (Ex RD) and Maya Fernández (PS), requested a special session on the subject.

At the time, the Minister of Labor, María José Zaldívar, indicated that the information disclosed by Lorenzini is that of “a fairly old complaint that the Superintendency of Pensions at the time concluded that there was absolutely nothing irregular ”.

Meanwhile, the economist denounced that AFP “Habitat ‘invests’ our savings (from Habitat pension funds) in Moneda funds, then Moneda invests in ILC (construction investments) and ILC owns Habitat, that is, CON OUR OWN SAVINGS OF HÁBITAT AFFILIATES, are being bought directly and indirectly by AFP Habitat, which is expressly prohibited by law, and thus control where 60,000 million dollars are invested ”.
