The Chamber of Deputies approved and dispatched to the Senate this day the government project that allows withdrawal of pension funds to terminally ill patients.
The Executive’s initiative was endorsed unanimously with 142 votes in favor of the parliamentarians attending the session.
The text defines that every member who is certified as terminally ill by the Medical Council established for these purposes, will have the right to receive a pension calculated as a temporary income for twelve months. Said amounts will be paid by the administrator to which the beneficiary is affiliated on the date of payment.
The foregoing, as reported, may be carried out once the necessary capital has been reserved to pay the survivors’ pensions and the mortuary fee, when applicable.
In addition, it is pointed out that for pensioners it is determined that the reference amount to be received will be the average of the last twelve received or the average of those received (in the event that they do not register twelve) before being certified as terminally ill.
On the other hand, the initiative maintains that it may be requested to reduce the temporary income up to the value of the Basic Solidarity Pension for those over eighty years of age, the difference being able to be withdrawn as a freely available surplus.
Finally, it is established that it establishes that the law will enter into force on July 1, 2021. However, the technical regulations, instructions and other administrative acts that must be issued by the Superintendency, may be carried out prior to the indicated date.
Meanwhile, also during this day, a parliamentary motion was voted in particular that also sought to benefit the terminally ill, but it was rejected as it did not achieve a quorum of 93 votes in favor (it obtained 92), for which it was shelved.
