Capture Channel 13
President Sebastián Piñera ruled out last night lifting the State of Constitutional Exception in the country, because it is required to control the pandemic.
In the program “A esta hora de improvisa” on Channel 13, the President referred to the state of health emergency decreed almost eight months ago.
“Without a State of Exception there cannot be quarantines because to restrict the freedom of a commune or a neighborhood a State of Exception is required,” he emphasized.
In that sense, he pointed out that “Health estimates that we can have a second wave, a second outbreak. In Europe the second wave has been seven times harder and has had more infections and more deaths than the first wave and therefore when we raise the State Emergency we are going to have to give up quarantines. “
Asked about the curfew, he stressed that the measure has been shortened: “Today it is between 5 am and 12 am and we could continue moving in that direction.”
