A 39-year-old woman died on Monday afternoon while undergoing plastic surgery at the Edelweisse Clinic, located on Miguel Claro Street, in the Providencia district.
According to information provided by relatives of the fatal victim, he was being subjected to a tummy tuck and a mammoplasty when he suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest.
The family’s lawyer, Ángela Hormazábal, told the press that “here there was clear medical negligence by the doctor and the clinic. This person died because the doctor is not registered in the Conacem (National Corporation for the Certification of Medical Specialties), he is not registered in the Medical College and cannot operate here in Chile (…), therefore this person died because the doctor made a serious mistake ”.
In addition, he denounced that the clinic “She did not have any type of specialized equipment or machinery to carry out any type of resuscitation, the SAMU did not arrive and neither did they refer her to any healthcare facility.
