Within the framework of “2020 Rights Campaign”, the Ombudsman for Children this Monday premiered a song where two local artists advocate for the participation of children and adolescents in citizen processes.

Is about “The call of nature”, composition that was in charge of Jaco Sanchez (Pablo Ilabaca, former Chancho en Piedra and composer of 31 Minutos) and the Mapuche rapper MC Millaray.

“Listen, watch and enjoy the first video of our 2020 Rights Campaign, with 2 national artists who are risking it to empower children and adolescents in their right to participate,” they commented from the organization through social networks, as of presentation.

In its lyrics, the song makes direct reference to the “social outbreak” and other recent milestones in local politics, such as the October 25 plebiscite for a new Constitution.

“When I was little I could not give an opinion / They kept us silent even at dinner / Religion or sexual orientation were not topics that one decided”, is heard at the beginning of “The call of nature”, now available on streaming platforms.

“All that false morality has already collapsed / The banners show the social demand / I feel that you must empower yourself and fly / Skip all the turnstiles / So the constituent process will have strength, meaning and reason with your voice,” Ilabaca sings in the last line, alluding to Manifest scored by Víctor Jara.

“March with your star / Shout out loud, you can give your opinion / Let that flag of equality be seen / With our heads held high, the world has to change / Demand your rights, the original people beats loud / The call of nature / Nobody can ignore the brightness of your essence ”, adds the lyrics.

MC Millaray continues: “We do not want to see violence in a systematic way because of the invisibility / And for those who normalize it / Free childhood and without repression / Mapuche or not / Today childhood raised its voice to say no longer / That He is silent / We will not allow our opinion to be silenced / Take my hand and walk with the revolution / We will create, we are creating our own rebellion ”.

The “2020 Rights Campaign” is one of the local activities around the commemoration of the 30 years of the ratification in Chile of the Convention of Children’s Rights (August 14, 1990, during the government of Patricio Aylwin).
