A security camera of the Copec service center located on the Costanera Norte in Vitacura recorded the crime that affected the tax car used by the minister Ignacio Briones.
The situation occurred at around 7:45, when a civilian driver and a Carabineros non-commissioned officer who is acting as listens The Secretary of State stopped at the service station on their way to Briones’ home.
At that moment, another vehicle pulled up next to it and one of its four occupants got out to break a window and steal a backpack from inside the tax car.
When they were fleeing, the uniformed man appeared who fired at least 13 shots against the mobile where the thieves fled, according to the prosecutor Omar Mérida.
PDI Commissioner Óscar Bacovich told the media that, according to the uniformed officer, from inside the car they had threatened him with a gun, so he used his service weapon. This cannot be seen in the images.
The shots wounded one of the assailants, who passed away at the German Clinic while receiving medical care.

What happened is investigated by the Eastern Prosecutor’s Office and PDI personnel. At the moment there is no news regarding the whereabouts of the other three people who participated in the crime.
