The Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic reported that it will officiate the Carabineros so that “report on new apparel that does not contain space for visible identification“.

The above arises after the viralization of a video in which it is perceived that the new uniform of the Public Order Control (COP) of Carabineros has this modification that does not allow to see their names or their ranks.

In the registry, disseminated on social networks, the moment is captured when a subject asks a group of officials why their name is not visible, to which they respond that it is precisely this clothing which “does not allow to use names”.

The video’s author’s concern is how a police officer could be identified if they were recorded at the time of “repressing someone”. The official consulted in that case said that they would indeed not have a way to identify them, despite the fact that she was willing to make her name known if asked.

Finally, the Comptroller’s Office learned of what happened and requested the corresponding report from the institution, which should indicate “The measures that will be taken in this regard”.

For its part, Deputy Claudia Mix (Comunes) valued the Comptroller’s action, after presenting a request to the supervisory entity to pronounce on this citizen complaint.

“We hope that the Carabineros institution will act promptly to correct this situation”added the parliamentarian.
