The Senate Chamber rejected the constitutional reform presented by deputies that allowed a second withdrawal of 10% of pension funds, and that the Government took to the Constitutional Court.
The rule received 23 votes in favor, 8 abstentions and 10 against, without reaching the 26 necessary to be approved, so the reform will now be seen in a Mixed Commission between the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
No senator from the ruling party voted in favor of the transitory constitutional reform, because those who had pledged their vote last week, withdrew to support the Government’s project.
“I am going to vote for the project that ensures retirement and that it be in December, but I say without ambiguity that we cannot continue to be late (…) We must help the withdrawal to be quick and effective “RN senator Manuel José Ossandón indicated to justify his vote in favor of the Government’s project and not for the one presented by opposition deputies.
For its part, the entire opposition voted in favor of the reform, with the exception of Senator Alejandro Navarro, who had to be absent due to health problems.
