Government announces new Emergency Family Income for areas that are kept in quarantine

The Government announced this Tuesday night the creation of an Emergency Family Income (IFE) to help the population that is in areas that are kept under quarantine.

The Minister of Finance, Ignacio Briones, affirmed that a group of senators from Chile Vamos de regions asked him to include the resources for the mechanism in the budget law and that in this way when it is needed it can be activated.

Briones specified that “as of next week, if this initiative is successful, we will be able to press the button whenever necessary for the localities that are in quarantine. This was part of the initial conversations with the opposition, it is fair to admit it, and of course it was welcomed by them, because we know that the country is still experiencing difficult pandemic situations and particularly the regions.

Along these lines, the Secretary of State explained that “the idea is to have an easy and agile vehicle that can be deployed locally every time there is a quarantine (…) and that delivers certainty to Chileans in the localities that go into quarantine, that important support from the state is going to be there ”.

In addition, the Minister of Finance indicated that the amounts will be similar to those provided by the IFE previously.
