Finally this morning the government project was voted in general, which aims to allow a withdrawal of 10% of the AFPs with a minimum of UF35 and a maximum of UF100, limiting the universe of affiliates who can access, and establishing a taxation for withdrawals.
Which it was the result? The idea of legislating in the United Finance and Labor commissions of the Senate was approved with seven votes in favor and three against.
Initially, the entire ruling party voted in favor adding four votes, but three opposition parliamentarians also abstained, and three others voted against; Therefore, the vote had to be repeated and abstentions were added to the majority, which were favorable.
The favorable votes were delivered by Senators José García Ruminot (RN), Rodrigo Galilea (RN), Jacqueline Van Rysselberghe (UDI), and Ena von Baer (UDI).
Senators Ricardo Lagos Weber (PPD), Carlos Montes (PS), and Adriana Muñoz (PPD) voted against the idea of legislating.
More about Withdrawal of funds
On the other hand, senators Carolina Goic (DC), Juan Pablo Letelier (PS), and Jorge Pizarro (DC) abstained.
The parliamentarians who abstained argued that they will vote favorably on the opposition constitutional reform for the withdrawal of 10% this Wednesday in the Senate room, but they want to ensure that this government project can go ahead, without the restrictions imposed by the Executive.
This, considering that if the government does well in the Constitutional Court with the opposition initiative, or in case they do not get the votes tomorrow to approve the opposition reform, there could not be a second withdrawal of 10%, argued the three opposition senators.
For this afternoon between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. it is contemplated that the vote in particular of the government initiative be made, article by article, in the same united commissions. For this, there are already parliamentarians who have entered indications to eliminate some restrictions imposed by the government, or to limit them.
On the other hand, it is budgeted that tomorrow the government project will be voted in the Senate room. Of course, this would occur after the vote on the opposition constitutional reform that also seeks a withdrawal of 10%, but is universal.
