The national tennis player Nicolás Jarry (without ATP ranking) returned this Monday with a defeat to the professional circuit, after falling in the first round of the Challenger in Lima, in Peru, clay court contest held at the Miraflores Promotion Center.

Jaime Fillol’s grandson comes from serving a long sanction for doping and made his return to the Peruvian capital, without success. Despite giving a hard fight, the tall national player he bowed to the local Nicolás Álvarez (350º) by 2-6, 6-2 and 2-6.

Due to the lack of rhythm from being away from the activity for so long, Jarry was imprecise with the drive and this was used by his rival to take advantages.

In the second set, Jarry found the timing to hit the ball and affirmed his serve to nullify any reaction from Alvarez. This time, the Chilean was the clear dominator and forced the decisive chapter.

In the crunch, Jarry missed nine breakout chances, while Alvarez didn’t miss the chances the former world 38 gave him. Thus, the born in Lima closed the match in his favor without major problems.

Remember that the ‘Prince’ received an invitation card for the Lima contest, which Cristian Garin won in 2016 and 2018.

Now, Jarry will focus on the doubles draw by pairing precisely with his opponent today in singles. In the premiere they will be measured with the Ecuadorian Gonzalo Escobar and the Australian Artem Sitak, first seeds.
