On Monday morning, Minister Enrique Paris issued a warning against the mayor of Puerto Natales, Fernando Paredes (UDI), and called on him not to disagree with the provisions issued by the Government and the Ministry of Health in the midst of the pandemic.
According to the head of the Minsal, he is concerned about the situation of the community, with whom he met via Zoom, and surprised by the attitude of the communal chief who – affirmed – “He does not want to comply with health regulations and even declares himself in absentia”.
Paredes has indeed issued statements against quarantine and denounced that this measure seriously damages the local economy.
“This non-compliance with sanitary regulations, dear mayor, can have serious consequences to the health of their own community, increase infections, sickness, take more patients to intensive treatment units and even increase fatality. Therefore I call you to reconsider, “said the minister during the COVID balance sheet from La Moneda.
“Puerto Natales unfortunately continues to be the commune with highest rate of cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the entire country. Therefore we propose a joint communal plan with the Government to reverse these figures and not disagree with the authority, ”added the minister.
“You as an authority know that when you dictate a norm and the community disagrees with your norm, that causes problems. So I ask you, Fernando, to reflect, that we work together ”, closed Paris.
In the instance, the Executive reported 37 deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, with which the total number of deaths reached 15,106.
In addition, they reported 9,144 active cases and 1,440 new infections diagnosed in the last 24 hours at the national level, with which the registered total is 542,080.
