A retired Navy officer related how the torture sessions are inside the institution, after a few weeks ago recordings were released showing attacks on cadets.

The testimony was given by the officer (R), Rubén Sandoval, to the central newscast of Chilevisión, where he indicated that after the attacks shown in the videos: “The idea is to torture and leave that anger that you had contained, take it out on someone defenseless, and they can do everything they want perfectly ”.

Sandoval adds that the victims of these practices, “they are not fed, they are not given water, they strip them naked, they put on headphones with the loudest music you have as heavy metal for hours so that this person goes crazy.”

“Just be in the wrong place,
at the wrong time, so that you get caught and tortured for days, ”he explains.

From the Navy, they indicated that they were practices of “camaraderie”, similar to the university locks.

“The events are framed in a context of camaraderie typical of the anniversary of the School, similar to the university locks, being forbidden the blows and direct contacts between the participants,” said Leonardo Chávez, Director of Communications of the Navy.

Along the same lines, Sandoval adds that these events are common in the Navy and that even the officers know it, but they “turn a blind eye.”

“Throughout the week the officers turn a blind eye, saying that from such a time they will not be in such a part. They can tie you hand and foot, hit you with belts or with your hands, and they are also part of this tradition, they are part of the things that the officers endorse “added.
