President Sebastián Piñera accepted the Resignations presented by 12 authorities – which were later joined by another two –, all of them on the occasion of end of the legal term -which is fulfilled this Saturday- for those who “want to participate in the next electoral cycle 2021”.
Although it is not known what public positions each of them aspires to, the Presidency reported in a statement that The President has already established who will be in charge of each distribution after your departure.

Undersecretaries:
- Francisco Moreno leave her Undersecretary of Finance, and will be replaced by the now former national director of the Civil Service Alexander Weber, Organizational Psychologist from the Catholic University and Master of Business Administration and Master of International Development at Duke University.
- Juan Masferrer leave the Undersecretary of Regional Development, and is replaced by the now former head of the Regional Development Division of the same portfolio Maria Paz Troncoso, Public Administrator of the University of Chile.
Masferrer served as mayor of O’Higgins between 2018 and 2020 and only in June of this year had he assumed as Subdere. Together with his family he made the decision to “return to my O’Higgins Region, and be part of the very important processes that are coming to the country,” he explained, without anticipating what he will run for: “I should talk about it with the people of the region and the party – the UDI – to see how we advance. “
Intendants:
- Martin Arrau get out of Mayor of Ñuble, and Cristóbal Jardua assumes the regional government, who worked as a minister of Public Works in the area, and is a lawyer from the Pedro de Valdivia University.
- Sergio Giacaman, who would be on the verge of starting a candidacy for deputy, abandons the Intendancy of Biobío. The now former regional councilor for the Province of Concepción will take his place Patrick kuhn.

- Hector Borquez leave the Chiloé Governorate, and will be replaced by the now former head of Education of the Mineduc of that province Pedro Andrade, graduated in Education from the Universidad Católica del Norte.

Later the resignation of two other governors was known: that of Malleco, Juan Carlos Beltran; and that of Magellan, Homer Villegas, who will seek to run for deputy.
Former authorities analyze their departures
Regarding his departure, the former mayor Arrau indicated that, although there is talk of a possible parliamentary candidacy for the UDI, he will be in the process of reflection from now on to analyze “where can you best serve”.
“I want to have the option open and that is why we are going to maintain an analytical attitude for some time, to talk with the community and see where we can contribute at this time, which undoubtedly at a time that has great challenges for the country and for the region, “he said.

For his part, the former mayor Sergio Giacaman He pointed out that “it is nonsense to say that I also make myself available, but the decision of the candidacy is not something solely mine.”
“It is a decision that must be taken as a family, then also with the party, I am a member of a party and it is the UDI that also has to invite me to be a candidate or not (to be a deputy). So what I resolve today is to make myself available, “said Giacaman.
Mayors also resign
At the local level there are also news, with the resignation of mayors also to meet the deadlines for the upcoming electoral period. Among these are the communal chiefs of Villarrica, Pablo Astete, and Lumaco, Manuel Painiqueo.
They join the departures, known this week, of Miguel Becker, from Temuco; and the suspended Karen red, who resigned from the Antofagasta mayor’s office in the middle of the trial he faces for alleged fraud against the Treasury.
