Prosecutor’s Office requests preventive detention for a police officer accused of shooting domestic children in Talcahuano

The chief prosecutor of Talcahuano, Julian Muñoz, who initiated the accusation, recounted part of the event, which began with the defendant’s arrival by bicycle to the place: “both falling to the ground and rolling together down an existing slope in the place, after which other underage residents of the aforementioned home followed them, some of them throwing stones and sticks, before which the accused runs inside the previously singled out enclosure“.

The persecutor also revealed that there was a second carabinier who fired at that moment, but towards the ground and in the opposite direction minors.

Consequently, the Prosecutor’s Office requested the preventive detention of the police officer for repeated crimes of unlawful coercion and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, as author against two minors from the Carlos Macera household.

Mayor of Talcahuano announced that he will collaborate in the investigations

The mayor of Talcahuano, Henry Campos (UDI), reported that they activated “immediately all the teams of the Talcahuano Rights Protection Offices (OPD) to gather the background information and see the legal actions that we can present as a municipality.”

The local authority also informed that they will investigate all the violations that could have been carried out in the collaborating compound of the Sename.

On the other hand, from the central government, the undersecretary of the Interior, Juan Francisco Galli, commented that the investigation should clarify the circumstances in which the events occurred, noting that if the accused found it necessary to use his service weapon, it was because his physical integrity, his life or that of his staff was threatened that operated in the sector.
