The Institute of Public Health of Chile (ISP) announced the withdrawal from the market – voluntary by the manufacturer – of 92,943 units of Huggies brand wet wipes, belonging to the Kimberly-Clark company.
In detail, it was about three cosmetic products with different health records, which correspond to: Huggies Effective Cleaning Wet Wipes, Huggies One & Done Complete Cleaning Wet Wipes, and Huggies Pure and Natural Wet Wipes.
According to the information published by the ISP, Kimberly-Clark Chile SA, owner of the products, “reported that the withdrawal was motivated by the results obtained by the manufacturer in Colombia, from a routine re-analysis.”
In this re-analysis it was detected, for 30 series, the presence of a microorganism called Pluralibacter Gergoviae, “which it is safe for healthy people, but could represent a risk for people with weakened immune systems.
“It is important to emphasize that the recall only affects the series described (…) and not other series or other types of wet wipes of this brand,” said the ISP.
People who use or have purchased these products, They must first check if the serial number corresponds to those indicated for the recall.
Where can the serial numbers be checked?
-For Effective Cleaning Huggies Wet Wipes here.
-For Huggies One & Done Complete Cleaning Wet Wipes here.
-For Huggies Pure and Natural Wet Wipes here.
“If applicable, as a precaution, it is recommended not to use,” added the ISP.
Finally, the Institute stated that “the owner (company) will report, through the National Drug Agency Department, the progress in the product recall process”.
