The Institute of Public Health (ISP) announced the retirement of 92.943 units of wet towels for babies Of the brand Huggies, after it was detected in 30 different series, the presence of a microorganism called Pluralibacter gergoviae.

Kimberly-ClarK Chile SA, company in charge of Huggies Wet Wipes Effective Cleaning, Huggies One & Done Complete Cleaning Wipes Y Huggies Pure and Natural Wet Wipes, reported that the withdrawal is due to the results of the routine re-analysis carried out by the manufacturer in Colombia, where the bacterial presence was found.

According to the ISP, the microorganism “is without danger for healthy people, but could pose a risk to people with weakened immune systems“, so he called on people who use these products to review the serial number and remove them and stressed that” it only affects the series described, not to other series or other types of wet wipes of this brand“.

The company will have to inform the Institute about the withdrawal of the products from the market, through the Department of the National Agency of Medicines.
