The VAR added a new and scandalous controversy in the 2020 National Championship. This time, technology annulled a historic goal to Humberto Suazo for an imperceptible offside captured with an obviously poorly drawn line.
At minute 76 ‘of the complement, Chupete opened the scoring for Deportes La Serena against Huachipato and reached his 100th goal in the Chilean First Division. But nevertheless, the VAR assisted the main judge, César Deischler and annulled the goal for a “millimeter” position of advance.
The problem? The line with which the VAR defined the offside of Chupete was clearly poorly done, since it did not consider the left foot of a steel defender. The annoyance was so great that even Jaime Valdés himself charged against technology on his social networks: “They are a disaster“.
