After the Supreme Court ratified the decision of the Court of Appeals to reject the protection appeal requested by the journalist Iván Ñúnez, in which he demanded to eliminate three chapters of the so-called “First Plan of the People”, where his personal life was discussed, the communicator decided to raise his voice.
Through his Instagram account, the 24-hour face published an extensive statement clarifying that he does not owe alimony for his children and that he did not remove them from the private health system, as was said in the journalists’ online space Sergio Rojas and Cecilia Gutiérrez.
“In Chile 83% of food pensions are not paid. For the guardians of these children, mostly mothers, it is a real tragedy. Probably many of you suffer from this drama on a daily basis, ”Núñez began in a series of images on the platform. “Taking this into account, I allow myself to use this space to clarify various false information and news that have come out in recent weeks about me,” he added.
“Various journalists and people on social networks have affirmed about me that: ‘he took his children out of the isapre in the middle of the pandemic.’ Do you know how many journalists have called or written to me to find out if this is true? None. In fact, my children have been in the private health system since their birth and in the same isapre for more than a decade ”, sentenced.
“Family hearings are private, for obvious reasons. Only the intervening parties have access. Even so, it has been published that me that: “requested a reduction of alimony”. That, as stated in the Family Court, is completely false. Nobody called or wrote to me to verify the veracity or falsehood of this, “he said.
These statements were accompanied by a long message, where he clarifies other things. “Perhaps what has been repeated the most is that I do not pay alimony for my children. I can categorically affirm that I have fully complied with the pension set by the court. And not only that: the expenses that I pay monthly (because it is my duty as a father) are practically 300% of what is set by the court. I have all the documents to prove it ”, he asserted.
Núñez also explained that he has been separated from his exposa for a year and three months. Marlene de la Fuente, with whom he was married for more than 20 years. “By the way, I have made mistakes. And more. I have assumed them and will continue to do so. Separations are painful, especially when there are children. But they don’t have to lead to a dirty war. It hurts me enormously to have failed and cause suffering to those I love the most in life, my children, ”he acknowledged.
The communicator also confirmed that he has a new partner and that he will be a father with her, an issue that De la Fuente had commented on and assured that his children had not taken the news well.
“It has been claimed that I took my current partner ‘last summer’ to the south. That is not like that. We went this summer, months after I broke up. It is true that I am in a couple and that we are going to have a child. It is also true that she is a foreigner and that she has been an invaluable support and refuge in these difficult times… However, at the appointed date, she did not even know Chile. There are the entry records in the International Police ”, he explained.
Likewise, he also explained the legal action filed against Gutiérrez y Rojas’ online program. “An attempt has been made to disguise an appeal for protection presented by my lawyer as an attempt at censorship. That is clearly not my goal. What I have explicitly requested is that my minor children stop talking, that images of private meetings with health specialists not be published, and that the lies described above be deleted or corrected. Freedom of expression is too important and responsibility and journalistic rigor must be exercised. Part of the job is to consult the sources, “he said.
“I still believe in institutions. I will sue and file a civil lawsuit. If someone wants to talk about me, they can continue to do so, but they should leave my children alone. They must leave my pregnant partner alone. They are not guilty of my mistakes. Being in a public job does not prevent me from defending myself with legal tools, “he warned.

Let us remember that in the protection appeal filed by Núñez and his lawyer, it was requested that Rojas and Gutiérrez be prohibited from referring to their family life. Likewise, he also asked that the internet sites that replicated this information remove the publications and data.
It should be noted that Núñez and De la Fuente separated in November 2019. During their marriage, they both had four children.
