The Minister of Finance, Ignacio Briones, again referred to the project of the second withdrawal of 10% of the AFPs. And, as expected, he reiterated the government’s stance against it.

After being approved on Wednesday with a large majority in the Chamber of Deputies, the initiative began its debate on Friday in the Constitution Commission in the Senate. The Secretary of State was invited to participate.

Now, Briones used his Twitter account to express his refusal to the motion. He pointed out that those with more income will benefit more than those with the lowest income in the country.

“Did you know. What new “10% withdrawal” project gives away to the 10% with the highest income, charged to all Chileans via non-payment of taxes, a figure similar to what the poorest 20% could withdraw? And what gift to the richest 2% reaches 80% of that withdrawal? Go tax progressivity, “he said on the social network.

The tweet generated a large amount of criticism from users, who accused that the initiative meets the needs of people given the few measures adopted by the Government to face the economic crisis of families in the midst of the pandemic by covid-19 .
