Senator UDI José Durana announced his vote in favor of the second withdrawal of 10%, however, he presented his objections and said that he does not agree that the measure is unconditional since, in his opinion, the new Constitution is valid the risk that these funds will be “expropriated”.
In conversation with Radio Cooperativa, the union parliamentarian said that, personally, he does not agree that it is universal, but today he is inclined to vote in favor basically for something that has touched him with great force and that, he said many tell me: “unfortunately this Chile that is being built tomorrow may expropriate the pension funds.”
Durana explained that these funds “today are protected by the Constitution”, but that with the constituent process that is looming “tomorrow perhaps the montonera that is in charge of this Government will finally end up expropriating the funds that belong to all Chileans and taking it a PAYG system, which is what the left fundamentally wants. “
Despite his position, Durana believes that “it is not appropriate that those people who have not had any economic problems today finally want to make use of this 10 percent.” In addition, agreeing with the Government, he assured that the correct path is a pension reform.
“The pension reform is very well inspired because it specifically means improving the current pensions, lowering their income by almost 35, 40 percent, but they insist with the withdrawal of 10 percent, which unfortunately goes in the opposite direction of improving the pensions, “said Senator UDI.
