Thousands of supporters of President Donald Trump marched through central Washington on Saturday to back up his unsubstantiated claims about election fraud, as the President insists with legal challenges to overturn the victory of President-elect Joe Biden.
Trump supporters with flags came out to complain of alleged election fraud. Screaming “Stop the robbery!” and “We are the champions!” they marched from Freedom Plaza near the White House to the United States Supreme Court building on Capitol Hill.
Furthermore, dozens of members of the far-right group Proud Boys, dressed in black and some in helmets and bulletproof vests, were among the protesters. Some leftist groups planned counter-demonstrations, but there were no reports of major incidents.
Meanwhile, Trump’s caravan moved slowly through the crowd on its way to his golf course in Sterling, Virginia. A video on social media showed Trump, wearing a red baseball cap, greeting supporters from inside the presidential limousine.
Although, for the first time on Friday, Trump began to sound doubtful about his prospects, telling reporters that “time will tell” who has held the White House since the day of inauguration on January 20.
The truth is that a week after the Democrat won the election, Trump’s demands have made little progress in the courts, while Biden has received congratulatory calls from world leaders and is working on the formation of his cabinet.
