This Saturday afternoon, Carabineros announced that they dismissed a uniformed man that this morning, while driving under the influence of alcohol, he crashed into a house in Chillán and crushed a resident while he was sleeping. The victim died and the driver suffered only less serious injuries.
“I can also mention that the driver of the vehicle, who did it under the influence of alcohol, lost control of the mobile, deviating from the road to collide with a house which, being made of light material it yields in one of its walls falling on a person inside “Commander Leonardo Fernández, prefect (s) of Prefecture 17 of the Carabineros, told Radio Bío Bío in Ñuble.
“He was discharged, he no longer belongs to the ranks of the institution”added the officer, who classified the incident as “regrettable.”
The accident occurred around 1:00 a.m. this Saturday at the corner of Colchagua streets with Antártica Chilena de la Zañartu Population.
In that place, the car driven by Sergeant Víctor Medina Alarcón, staffed by a Chillán police unit, crashed into the wall of a house causing the death of Carlos Aguilera Ortega, 37 years old, who slept in his home.
Despite the efforts of Firefighters to rescue him, Aguilera Ortega lost his life when he was crushed by the wall and the vehicle itself.
After controlling the arrest, the Chillán prosecutor Maritza Camus asked the court to extend the detention because there are pending proceedings, such as the SIAT Ñuble report and the receipt of the autopsy by the Legal Medical Service.
Thus, the Guarantee Court extended his arrest until Sunday, when the charges would be formalized against the now former police officer.
