The Senate Constitution Commission generally approved the project that facilitates the registration of independents as candidates for the Constitutional Convention, after the urgency that the Government put on Tuesday, without prior notice to the instance.

The commission also began to review the project in particular and various indications entered by parliamentarians. In his speech, independent senator Carlos Bianchi, asked the Executive to find a mechanism that allows a good project to come out, which does not end up benefiting the parties.

“Let’s look for a mechanism that allows us to do things in the best way (…) that allows us to get a good project, we are in front of the eyes of the whole country,” he stressed.

Earlier, in the Plaza de Armas, the movement Non-Neutral Independent presented some of his candidates for the convention: Alejandra Sepulveda, executive director of Comunidad Mujer; Veronica Undurraga, professor in Constitutional Law; and the conductor Pablo Carrasco.

The journalist was also presented as a candidate, Patricia politzer, who reiterated the call to Congress to give all the conditions, including the possibility of agreeing with other independents and with parties.

“With these rules we have a very uneven field,” he said.

A topic that generates interest, according to a survey among the National Television Council and the Adolfo Ibáñez University, which showed that 61% of those consulted positively valued the incorporation of independents in the plebiscite strip.
