Although there is still a vote in the Senate to approve the second withdrawal of 10% of the pension funds, Deputy Pamela Jiles (PH) announced that she has already written a project that will seek to promote an eventual third disbursement of the AFPs to face the economic crisis due to the covid-19 pandemic.
In conversation with Radio Universo, the legislator argued that the measure was born before the possibility of a coronavirus outbreak, as happened in Europe, where several cities had to return to a quarantine stage.
Given this, he stated that “of course we will have to do everything we can. I have drawn up the third withdrawal already in my hand, in a folder that I am touching. If the Government continues as it has been up to now, the grandmother has to evaluate with his grandchildren, who are his only political advisers. “
However, he acknowledged that “it is a terrible measure, which actually has several problems, not only regarding future pensions, but it is the only alternative that a government has left us that does not realize or does not want to realize that it is leading people to despair. “
Regarding the possibility that many people will be left without funds with this new withdrawal, Jiles assured that “I am not in charge of financing, but it is the State and it has always been. If the State is reluctant to its responsibility, we are not going to stare and what corresponds today is to do what has been done. What is a lousy measure? Of course, I don’t waste a second discussing it. “
While on the discussion and voting of the initiative in the Upper House, the humanist legislator maintained that there will be the majority necessary to approve it, anticipating that “it will be like that. There will be at least two more important surprises ”.
“I built this by hand, it was necessary to convince parliamentarian by parliamentarian, people who were obviously very curious to vote in favor of this project,” he added.
Finally, Jiles referred to the repeated refusal of President Sebastián Piñera and the Minister of Finance, Ignacio Briones, to the project, accusing that “we made every attempt to get the Government to agree to negotiate, but the Government believed until the last moment that we were not going to have this vote. He believed that it would be very difficult to build this majority and this situation passed over them and he was not able to see that in the face of his inability, Parliament was going to govern. “
“Here it became clear and crystallized that it is this Parliament that is governing in opposition to the Government in a very forceful way and with a correlation of forces that is two-thirds against the Government and the Government is a non-existent actor. Briones does not exist, Piñera does not exist, he is hidden, “he stressed.
That is why the legislator went further and criticized the Piñera administration. “He can be constitutionally accused a second time and there is nothing to prevent it,” he warned.
