Carabineros arrested on Monday a man accused as the author of a series of homicides in Alameda avenue of the Santiago and Central Station communes, in the Metropolitan region.
The apprehended is a Colombian who is accused, among other crimes, of the recorded last weekend in the Meiggs Ward.
According to preliminary information, the man would have a stake in eight attacks, of which six are completed homicides and two are frustrated. Of the survivors, one remains seriously ill in a care facility.
The OS9, Labocar and the North Central Prosecutor’s Office are in charge of the investigations to determine the participation of the subject in the facts attributed to him.
According to information collected by Radio Bío Bío, the man entered the country in 2012 and has had a criminal record since 2018 for crimes such as robbery by surprise and threats, among others.
Therefore, in 2019 the residence visa was denied, staying irregularly in the country.
The defendant, who was detained at the Central Station, would go to his respective arrest and formalization control in the next few hours.
The Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Delgado; the general director of the Carabineros, Mario Rozas Córdova; and Inspector General Ricardo Yáñez Reveco, will later refer to the investigation and the crimes for which it will be formalized.
