Chilean golf suffers. Through social networks, Joaquín Niemann announced that he tested positive for coronavirus and will not be able to play the Augusta Masters next week.

The Chilean athlete reported: “Unfortunately I tested positive for coronavirus and I will not be able to play the Masters next week. This tournament means a lot to me, I have very good memories of when I played it as LAAC champion.”

“In truth I am very disappointed not to be able to play this year, but I will do everything possible to have a speedy recovery while keeping my family and my team healthy,” he added.

Thus, the national golfer will not be able to participate in the American Major just when he is going through one of the best moments of his career, ranking 41st in the world ranking.

In its health protocol, the PGA Tour contemplates 10 days of quarantine for those who throw COVID-19, after which the players must take a new test to be able to return to the circuit.

Niemann’s schedule would continue at the Mayakoba Classic in Mexico, scheduled for the first week of December. However, the Creole could compete again in the RSM Classic if he finishes his exams well.
