He explained that one of the conclusions is that “it is necessary to achieve that, through various channels, through various means of innovation, both police officers can be closer to citizens, in a transparent way, respecting the protocols, but also strengthening the social role that both institutions have ”.

When asked about the continuity of General Rozas, Delgado indicated that in November or early December they will announce the names of the people who are going to head the high command.

On whether he supported Rozas’ management, he evaded the question and argued that “I strongly believe in the role of the police. I am convinced that the police play a very important role in the territories. I believe that both institutions have the possibility of being close to the neighbors and clearly there is a role that is permanently valued ”.

Despite this, he clarified that “the support for both institutions is on the part of this minister, but of course there are pending challenges. One of them is precisely modernization, protocols, always respect people’s Human Rights, The necessary protocols must be established so that any operation, any instance of coordination with the public is always transparent and that people feel that the police and the PDI are in the care of the people ”.

When he was again questioned regarding his views on the role of the general director of the Carabineros, he stressed that “this is not the time to answer that question,” since he is just developing formal meetings.
