During this Thursday the Minister of Finance, Ignacio Briones, was rebuked by citizens while walking through the intersection of streets Orphans and Morandé in the center of Santiago.

As evidenced on previous occasions, and confirmed by those close to him, Briones likes to walk and use the capital’s public transport, although there was no record of criticism against him.

During the last hours the head of the fiscal wallet has also been the target of criticism on social networks, after a job was known where he requests the Superintendency of Pensions the payroll of AFP affiliates who requested the first withdrawal of 10% of funds.

Regarding the controversy it generated, the minister called for tranquility and clarified that “no ministry authority (not even he) has access to this data. They are on an institutional server that has strict security measures ”.

“This has generated concern, very understandable doubts, I empathize with them. It could have been better explained in such a way as not to have generated this justified concern and doubt among people ”, he remarked, ensuring that the data will be used purely for statistical purposes.

Angry passersby

On this occasion, while he was going to the building of the Ministry of Finance, the head of the Treasury was the subject of spontaneous criticism from passersby, who -among other things- reproached him for managing resources in the pandemic and also for the controversial payroll.

“They will never walk calmly again”; “Why they forgive the tax to the rich”; “They will never walk quietly again” and “how can you sleep peacefully” were some of the phrases that were repeated the most, according to a video broadcast on social networks.

In that same record, it is observed that the minister stopped his march to talk with a woman, despite the fact that the screams against him did not stop.

Meanwhile, photographs of the moment show the presence of several Carabineros officials, who remained close to the head of the Treasury, although they did not intervene directly.
