With criticism they received in the opposition the appointment of Rodrigo Delgado as the new Minister of the Interior, the fourth of this second Government of Sebastián Piñera.
For the PPD senator, Felipe Harboe, the appointment of the now former communal head of Estación Central is “a risky bet” by the President.
Likewise, the parliamentarian declared that the former mayor of Estación Central is “someone who has never been in government, nor is he a political articulator with networks in Congress.”
Meanwhile, according to DC deputy Gabriel Silber, “clearly this is a government that got used to undressing a saint to dress another” and “turning again to authorities who were elected for other positions, shows a lack of cast and that the lame duck ”.
In the opinion of the parliamentarian, “the lack of people willing to take office in the account of a government that is on its way out.”
Rodrigo Delgado resigned this afternoon before the municipal council of Estación Central, where he has been in command for 12 years, and confirmed that he will assume his new challenge in La Moneda. “I know that very hard times are coming for me, it is clear to me (…) I also believe that there is a tremendous opportunity,” he said
The arrival of Delgado to the Palace takes place after the untimely resignation of Víctor Pérez to the position, where he did not reach 100 days, once the constitutional accusation against him was approved in the Chamber of Deputies, thereby risking becoming the Prime Minister of the Interior ousted from office since the return to democracy.
