The Commission of Constitution of the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies approved, in particular, the reform project that seeks to allow terminally ill people to withdraw their pension funds.

The initiative was approved with 11 votes in favor, both from the opposition and the ruling party, and two abstentions -both from the right-, therefore, the project must now be discussed in the Chamber of the Lower House, still in the first process.

The initiative was endorsed by Gael yeomans (CS) -in replacement of Deputy Gabriel Boric-, Juan Coloma Alamos (UDI), Pamela jiles (PH), Camila Flores (Registered Nurse), Gonzalo Fuenzalida (Registered Nurse), Hugo Gutierrez (PERSONAL COMPUTER), Marcos Ilabaca (P.S), Paulina Nunez (Registered Nurse), René Saffirio (Independent), Leonardo Soto (PS) and the DC Matías Walker, president of the instance.

Meanwhile, the deputies abstained Jorge Alessandri (UDI) and Luciano Cruz-Coke (Europe).

Specifically, the proposal promoted by Congressman Ilabaca modifies transitory article 39 of the Constitution that allowed the first withdrawal of 10% of pension savings, adding a new paragraph where it establishes that “people affected by terminal illness may withdraw the accumulated funds, without limitation in the amount“.

This is one of the two projects that the commission is analyzing today, which is now beginning to discuss and vote, also in particular, on the second withdrawal of 10%, promoted by Deputy Jiles.
