For four years, the Public Ministry has carried out an investigation for possible tax fraud, within the framework of the payments of parliamentarians for external consultancies with plagiarized reports, made by individuals or entities linked to their own parties, and that would end up deriving those monies to the coffers of their own political shops.
As revealed by CHV in a report, there are still political parties that, despite the scandal uncovered in 2016, continue to carry out these practices. This is the case of the UDI, a party in which parliamentarians have commissioned similar reports from the Jaime Guzmán Foundation.
This has been repeated in recent years, and according to the investigation, only this year the 20 deputies of the UDI have commissioned reports worth 10 million pesos each from the foundation.
These reports are paid jointly by the deputies, and point to advice on bills, summaries of parliamentary sessions and suggestions for votes, among others, which during this year already add up to a fiscal expenditure of more than 79 million pesos.
The figures rise if the first reports commissioned from 2018 to date are added, which translate into a total transfer of $ 333,200,000 of fiscal funds to the foundation linked to his own party.
The Jaime Guzmán Foundation told CHV that the entity “has a single contract with 20 UDI deputies, who contribute $ 500,000 each to carry out our work. Because it is a single contract, a single monthly report is made, which is distributed in 20 copies with all the legislative advice developed by the foundation in the corresponding month ”.
The investigation also revealed that the parliamentarian who transferred the most money to the Foundation during this year was the current government spokesman, Jaime Bellolio, who spent almost 5 million pesos in 6 months.
