A minor under 16 years of age was rushed after receiving a bullet impact in an operation carried out in Castro, Chiloé province.

The incident occurred in Villa Chiloé, after a uniformed man, made use of his service weapon in the middle of an altercation.

The adolescent was shot at the abdomen, having to be transferred by SAMU to the Castro Hospital.

Information that was confirmed by the prosecutor Luis Barría, who explained that the Carabineros attended the place after a report of threats in the context of domestic violence.

Thus, he pointed out that while uniformed personnel interviewed one of the victims, the adolescent tried to attack her with an ax, so the carabinero made use of his weapon.

Hans Gálvez, resuscitation nurse at SAMU Chiloé, indicated that the minor was transferred with oxygen support to the emergency department where he was evaluated by the doctor on duty.

The Castro Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal case to investigate what happened, requesting the concurrence of the IAPA of Carabineros to isolate the site of the event and investigate the facts. After this, the decision will be made on the courses to follow in the investigation.
